I'm a Christ-following, iced-coffee drinking, movie-quoting plant lady, dog mom, & future mother of a tiny human (coming May 2019!). I'm a native Michigander (totally a word), current Kansas City-an (possibly a word), with a few years in Chicago, Oklahoma City, and Seattle along the way. If I could live anywhere, it'd be the forest moon of Endor.
My dream is to someday own a retail nursery and cut flower farm, so when I'm not designing flowers or cooking up a storm, you'll find me out in the yard talking sweetly to my vegetable plants and convincing my husband to build me a greenhouse, lay drip irrigation lines, or help me pick weeds. Poor fella.
During the 37 years I waited to find the man of my dreams (he's a heartthrob, FOR REAL), I watched so many friends and family members do these huge events, and I always knew I'd rather have a low-key wedding. But I'm also crazy, and decided I'd design the flowers, bake all the desserts, build a table and a bunch of lawn games, make all of the decor by hand, and also host it in my backyard. BECAUSE WHY NOT?
It was ambitious, but SO much fun and I don't regret it one bit. Our wedding was perfect! Doing the work myself ultimately helped me realize how much I really, really, really love flowers and baking. So, you could say my life took a serious turn the day I said, "Honey, I'm thinking of doing the flowers myself. Is that nuts?"
After 12 years in the world of professional services marketing, I gave it all up to start Sweet Peony Shoppe - a place that lets me merge my creative passions into an amazing full-time job. Let's have fun dreaming together!
